What We do

Our summer and autumn concerts are typically full concert performances, with professional soloists and accompanists. They may consist of a major choral work, one or more shorter choral works, and solo pieces and are usually performed at St Luke’s Church, Maidenhead. We also have a Christmas concert, which is a more informal affair and perform at weddings, services and other events.

History

Maidenhead Choral Society started as the Christian Council Choir run by Len Piercey who was the organist and choirmaster at St Mary’s Church, Maidenhead. In 1963, the choir was reformed from all the church choirs in Maidenhead to sing in a concert celebrating the opening of the town hall. Since then, our concert programmes have been varied and ambitious; from Handel, Dvorak and Haydn, to Tippett, Vaughan Williams and Britten.

Our patron is The Rt Hon Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead.

We are also very grateful for the generous support of The Louis Baylis Trust, which is a charitable trust linked to our local newspaper, The Maidenhead Advertiser, and also to The Prince Philip Trust Fund, and The Kidwells Park Trust, two local charities that support community activities.
